Madeline Helmka ~ at Listowel Memorial Hospital on Thursday, April 10, 2014, Mrs. Madeline Ann (Schiestel) Helmka of Listowel, in her 87th year. Beloved wife of the late Neil Helmka. Mother of Murray and Sherri Helmka, Ken and Juanita Helmka, and Wayne and Ruth Helmka, all of Listowel, and Jo-Ann and Doug Gilkinson of Owen Sound. Grandmother of Ken Jr. and Tawnya Helmka of Palmerston, Jody and Pat Ash of Fordwich, Jeff and Laurie Gilkinson, Russell and Shelly Gilkinson, Rod and Jen Gilkinson, and Mark Gilkinson, all of Owen Sound, Christa and Paul Arsenault of New Hamburg, and Craig Helmka and his friend Joelle Maheux of St. Jerome, Quebec. Great-grandmother of Ryan, Brandon, Kyle, Cassandra, Meghan, Kate, Jess, Tristan, Carter, Cooper, Alice, and Eric. Madeline was the last surviving child of the late Frank and Abby Schiestel, being predeceased by her siblings Norman Schiestel and his wife Josie, Matt Schiestel and his wife Della, Mary Schefter and her husband Bert, and Joe Schiestel and his wife Leona, and infant brother Francis. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Listowel, on Monday, April 14, 2014 at 11:00 a.m., with visitation one hour prior. Interment in Fairview Cemetery. Memorial donations to Canadian Diabetes Association, or Cystic Fibrosis Foundation would be appreciated.
