Michael FougereIt is with great sadness the family wish to announce the sudden passing of Michael Fougere on September 5, 2014. Born in New Waterford he was the son of the late Simon and Victoria (Gracie) Fougere. Michael had been overseas in the army for 4 years. He first served in England for 1 year, he was then stationed in the Netherlands for a few more, later to return to Canada in 1942. He was a coal miner, he worked in the #12 mine until the fire. Then he had worked for many years on the railroad. He moved to Loch Lomond and became a member of both the Loch Lomond Heritage and Loch Lomond Fire Department. Over the years he had many hobbies, namely hunting, fishing, mixed darts and bowling. He is survived by his loving wife, Anna (Tabenski), sons Michael (Sandra), Loch Lomond, Stephen (Donna), New Waterford, daughter Eyvonne (John) Peach, Loch Lomond; sisters Rosie Warren, Glace Bay and Rita Power, Boston; brother Joel, St. Catherines, ON, 6 grandchildren as well as 9 great-grandchildren. Also many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers Henry, Murdock, Ernest, Alex and Peter, sisters Elsie, Alice, Annie May as well as a child in-infancy. Visitation will take place on September 10, 2014 at 2 – 4 pm and a chapel service to follow at 4 pm in the funeral home chapel with Fr. Jim Oliver officiating. Luncheon at the Army, Navy and Air force, Smith St., New Waterford and all are welcome. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of McLellan Brothers Funeral Home, 3183 Plummer Ave., New Waterford, 862-7500.
