Luft, Harold Gerhardt Passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at the age of 86, at Winston Park Nursing Home. Harold is survived by his loving wife Ruth (nee Kahl), sons Paul (Brenda) and Rick, and daughter Heather. Grandchildren Daniel and Rebecca, sisters Bernice Schmidt, Mildred Witt and Marie Gabel (John), sister-in-law Rita (Bob) Schenk and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by brothers Ted and Herb and sister Helen. Harold was born in Pembroke, ON to the late Rev. Theodore and Anna Luft. Harold was a long time employee at J.M. Schneiders Ltd. for over 45 years. He was a devoted member and active volunteer at Holy Cross Lutheran Church. Harold’s family will receive relatives and friends from 2pm-5pm on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. A Memorial Service will be held at Holy Cross Lutheran Church (322 East Ave., Kitchener) on Monday, May 12, 2014 at 11am. Reception to follow at church. Cremation has taken place. Interment will be held at Memory Gardens at a later date. Beloved wife of the late George Sawyer(1994). JURIMAE, Janine Patricia (nee Loos), R.N. Born in 1948 in Zandvoort, The Netherlands, she died peacefully at the Princess Margaret Hospital, Toronto on Monday, May 12, 2014. Beloved wife of Jaak and loved mother of Kristjan. Survived by her brother Jan Loos and his wife Beverley and their family. Predeceased by her parents and her brother Willem. Janine was a graduate of McKellar School of Nursing, Thunder Bay and later the University of Toronto School of Nursing. She worked at the Hospital for Sick Children for over 25 years and later taught at George Brown College. The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME A.W. Mrs. Verna Marrion
With sadness the family of Mrs. Verna June Marrion age 94, announces that she passed away peacefully at Pinewood Court on Friday, May 16, 2014. She was born to James and Zula Meek in Arago, Minnesota on November 8, 1919. Growing up in the Mokomom area gave her a liking for the outdoors. At sixteen she came to Fort William to work. In 1942 she married Melville Fildey and they had two children. He passed away in 1950. She married Samuel Marrion and added two more children to the family. She was a kind and gentle soul, whose faith and family were her mainstay. She is survived by her four children Roberta Welbourne, Brian (Mary) Marrion of Thunder Bay, Jim (Jill) Fildey of Evergreen, Colorado, Betty Antilla of Calgary; six grandchildren Tara Pettit, Christopher (Pat) Welbourne, Teri (Mark) Miller, Tom (Amber) Fildey, Ben and Jason Antilla and five great-grandchildren Hunter Fildey, Mackenzie, Carson and Riley Pettit, and Lucca Welbourne and niece Karen (Eino) Heikkala. She predeceased by her parents, brother Claire and sister-in-law Rita Meek, husbands Melville Fildey and Samuel Marrion and grandson-in-law Michael Pettit. Funeral services for the late Mrs.Verna June Marrion will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, May 22, 2014 in the WESTFORT CHAPEL, 420 West Gore St. Interment will follow in Mountianview Cemetery. Passed on May 22 our darling Katie, at age twenty-two, after a long and valiant battle with cancer. All who knew her admired her upbeat, outgoing, and tenacious personality. Katie was interested in everyone’s story, treating each and every person as an equal. Katie enjoyed travelling to many destinations, but by far spent most of her time in Newfoundland. She loved spending time with her big brother Kyle ,where they enjoyed visiting family, and the whales and the puffins. As a youth she also attended numerous summer Kidney Camps in Ontario (in conjunction with Winnipeg Children’s Hospital), where she made many enduring friendships .However her most recent trip was that of a iife time to Ireland, where Fab set up the most romantic proposal on the Cliffs of Moher.. Katie was a university education student working in inner city programs between semesters. Her hobbies included camping, rock climbing, art and reading. She was also die hard Saskatchewan Roughrider fan! However her singular passion, was to train her golden retriever Charley as a therapy dog. Leaving with wonderful memories are her parents Bill and Debbie, brother Kyle and her beloved fiancée Fab. She will also be missed by cherished aunts, uncles, cousins, many family, friends, as well as her closest friends Jennilee, Jaeden and Kirstyn. The medical support of Drs. Ralph Wong, Lisa Miller and Joel Gingerich along with their staff and close friend Bonnie Persowich was greatly appreciated. At Katie’s request “A celebration of life” will take place on Monday June 2nd from 11:30 – 2:30 pm at Norwood Community Centre, 87 Walmer Street ,Winnipeg . Katie also requested everyone come dressed in jeans or whatever is comfy. In lieu of flowers a fund has been establish to place a memorial bench at Maple Grove Dog Park where Katie spent endless hours with her very best friend, Charley. Frieda was the beloved wife of the late Ernie D’Arcey (July 15th, 1979). Dear mother of Gerald and Connie D’Arcey, Barry and Elaine D’Arcey and mother in law of Florence D’Arcey all of Fordwich. Also loved by her sister in law Helen Agate of Calgary, her 9 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Predeceased by her son Carl, brothers Jack, Carl and Norman and sister Annie. At Frieda’s request there will be a private funeral service with burial in Fordwich Cemetery.
